Thinking of You card

The Challenge this week at Digi Darla is to make a card by what inspires you from this photo. I was inspired by the colors of the flowers, the flowers themselves, and the weaving of the rug design. It made me think of weaving paper stripes to make a mat. That is what I did for the background of the card. The flowers I used on my card are some pieces of a flower I found in the parking lot at Michael s one time. I thought they were pretty, so home they came and got a good washing. The rose and green appealed to me in the flowers of the photo too. I also liked the browns. I tried to put some of that into Caleb's hat.
     Copics used are E000, E00, E01, E02-skin, E33, E37-hair, E59, E57, E31- hat and shoes, B97, BG05, BG01-overalls, BG05, BG01- bowtie, YG000, YG01, YG06- shirt and paper around flowers, RV09, RV06, RV02-flowers and bow on flowers.
Papers used are by Recollections- blue, and pink, Georgia Pacific-white, DCWV- print for leaves. The edges of the leaves are inked with green ink.
     The card size is 4" x 4 1/4".
Thank you for stopping by for a visit. I was glad you came. Edwina

Butterflies Are free Blog Hop

Have you ever watched a butterfly just casually meandering and fluttering by - it look so peaceful, tranquil and free! They get to land where they want, smell all the flowers and just let the world pass them by. The colors of the butterfly are magnificent with seeming to be no two alike!!!!

Today, we are going to be fluttering with our butterflies and takin you on journies whether it be sniffing the flowers, watching the world pass us by or just showing off our magnicient colors!!! A nice lazy day, so, let get fluttering.....

If you stopped by to visit me today, I really appreciate it but would love for you to see all the butterflies in our hop. The butterfly journey starts with Lynne at Her Craftiness (http://slasewcraftiness.blogspot.com/). If you fluttered here by <insert previous blog here> then you are on the right mark to sniff the flowers.

We have a wonderful sponsor today for our Butterflies Are Free - Susan Bermudez, Creative Memories representative.

I am so very happy to be able to sponsor Miss Lynne's Butterflies are Free Blog Hop. I am offering $10 worth of product from Creative Memories. You can pick what you like from my website: http://www.mycmsite.com/sites/susanbermudez. Good luck and Happy Scrappin'.

To be eligible, just leave a remark on each stop along the way and if you aren't already a follower, would love for you to follow also!!!

My project foryou today is...
I wanted you to see it hanging from the antique light fixture in the entrance way.
Here is a close up.

I used Cricut cartridges to cut out the flowers and butterflies. The flowers are from Cricut cartridge Flower Shoppe row 1 button7 at 5", row 2 button 7 at 4.63", row4 button 7 at 4", row 5 button 7 at 2.33". The butterflies are from Ashlyn's Alphabet icon key row2 button 9 at 1.17", Indie Art row 1 button 4 at 1.28", Sentimentals row 3 button 3 at1.25".

I took an ugly ornament and whited out the worse colors so they would not show through. Then I hot glued the flowers on. I then went through and added leaves between the flowers. I then glued some clear nylon thread between two butterflies. I did four of these. i made the thread different lengths. Then I hot glued the thread into place on the bottom of the ornament. It had a metal point on the bottom with a ridge. That helped to wrap the thread around it. Next i used pop dots to stick the butterflies onto the flowers. Then i cut some ribbon to habg it from the light fixture. i wanted enough to tie a bowl.

The papers are by Recollections. The ribbon is by Celebrate It Sheer creations at Michaels. The ornament is one I got in a grab bag at Michaels. the clear thread is some from my Mom's stash. It was on a wooden spool.

Thanks for stopping by and checking out my butterflies and thank you for not catching me and letting me fly around free. I would love for you to stop and visit Lisa to see what kind of butterfly enchantment that has been created for you to see next.

Thinking Outside the Yoke Blog Hop

Welcome to Her Craft Kre8tions first ever Blog Hop which we are calling Thinking Outisde the Yoke. Each Design Team Member was given a paper mache egg and were to transform this into something other than what was given to them originally. Our Design Team is to think outside of the "card" and do something other than cards and layouts. What a challenge .... could you meet this challenge?

Let's start with thinking outside of the yoke of our eggs . . . .
Here is my egg transformed into a butterfly.
I cut my egg into fourths. These eggs are plastic inside. Taking the smaller fourths I cute off 1/3 of the piece. Taking the paper from the 2 small pieces I rolled them, and taped into place. I then kept bending them into the shape I needed for antennas. Set these aside. Now cut some news papers to 5" wide . Roll into a butterfly body shape. Wrap a 12" pipe cleaner around it.Twist it at the tail end.
Now for the fun and messy part. Mix a solution of Elmers glue and water. 1 part glue to 2 parts water. If it seems too thin add more glue. Do this in a bowl your hands will fit in easy. Cut stripes of paper 1" by 6-7 "long. Now start putting the paper stripes in the glue criss -crossing each other. I stated with news paper. I did 5 at a time. Then I ended up with White paper which had to be in the glue just a few seconds longer. I did the bottom wings first and set aside on wax paper. I then hot glued the top wings to the body of the butterfly and then paper mached it. When finished I set it aside on wax paper to dry. Then I did the antennas. I let this dry for 2 days.
Using The hot glue gun I glued the butterfly together.
Now we are ready to paint it. Using Americana Acrylic paint Ultra Blue deep I painted the whole butterfly. It took 4 coats. Let dry well between each coat. When no more white is showing through you will know you have enough paint on it.
Now the fun part decorating the butterfly.Taking Fashion Caps Braiding cord in deep pink I wrapped it around the head and tail of the butterfly. I hot glued it on the back. Next hot glue a small round picture hanger on the back between the top wings on the body. Make sure you have it in the right position. it will tare the butterfly to try and move it.
Gems! Yay! I used gems from Createlogy - Michaels brand in deep pink, clear and yellow. I used 3 sizes. i placed them to see how they looked on the wings before hot glueing them into place. Be careful and don't burn your fingers. Next time I will try glue dots for this step to see if it works. If someone does, let me know your results. Because the glue seeped from under the gems, I went back and touched up with the paint. Let dry. Now spritz with Tattered angles Glimmer Mist iridescent Gold. I did all the way around it. Let dry. I spritz it on white cardstock. I spritzed it twice on the front and sides. After spritzing I placed it on wax paper to dry. Why do it on cardstock paper, because I now have a very pretty paper to use for a card or layout.
Once dry you are ready to hang your creation on the wall. That is where mine is now.
I hope you enjoyed my art class for today. If you have any questions please contact me and i'll answer them for you, or leave me your questions with your e-mail in my comment section. Have a beautiful day.
