How to make a Sidestep Card 11/01/2013

How to make a Sidestep Card
Supplies needed:
Score Board and bone folder- (Score Buddy)
Paper Trimmer- (Fiskars)
Cardstock- (Recollections- kraft paper)
colored Digis
Other items to decorate card as wished
Gather together your supplies and set up your work station.

Cut your cardstock to 8 1/2" x 5 1/2".

Place your cardstock on your paper trimmer 3" over. Put your blade at 6 1/2" and press into place.

Cut from the 6 1/2" mark to the 1" on your trimmer.

Place your paper on your score board as shown so the 2 1/2" wide piece is along the edge that shows the measurements.

Score at 4 1/4" from the edge of the paper to the cut line.

Turn trhe paper over so you have it where the other side is against the measuring lines. Make sure the end of your paper where the cut line goes down to 1" is in the corner. You will start scoring at the 1" measurement.

Score from the edge of the paper over to the cut line.

Score at the 2" mark starting at the edge and going over to the cut line.

Score at the 3 1/4" mark going over to the cut line.

Score at the 4 1/2" mark starting at the edge and going over to the cut line.

Score at the 6 1/2" mark starting at the edge and going over to the cut line.

This is how it should look.

Note: We are going to be using mountain and valley folds. Mountain folds are where the point will be facing up. Valley folds are were the point is pointing down.

Make a Mountain fold on the side where there is one score line at the 4 1/4" score line.

Now on the other side make a mountain fold with the 1" score line.

Now make a Valley fold with the 2" score line.

Continue making mountain and valley folds until all the score lines are folded. It should look like this photo.

Now crease the folds with the bone folder so they are crisp folds.

You should have a card that looks like one of these. Now you are ready to decorate your card.

I am using Robyn's Fetish Digis called Cornucopia, Autumn Fruit, Scarecrow with Pumpkins, Pumpkin Border, Pumpkin Border 2, Fall Pumpkin, Fall sentiments, Fall Sentiments 2, Scarecrow n Bird, Sun Flower 1, Sun Flower 2. You can find them here http://robynsfetish.com/shop

Copics used :
Reds- R22, R24, R29, R35, R59, Yellows- Y00, Y13, Y15, Y17, Y21, YR21, YR23, YR24, Oranges- YR01, YR02, YR04, YR07, YR27, Greens, YG00, YG01, YG03, YG07, YG93, YG95, YG97, YG99, Blues- B00, B01, B02, B05, B21, B23, B26, B91, B93, B95, B97, Purples- V01, V04, V06, V09, Browns- E31, E33, E37, E41, E43, E44, E47, E49, Skin tones- E000, E00, E01, E02, Warm Grays- W1, W3, W5, W7, W10, Cool Grays- C1, C3, C5, C7, C10.

Gelly Roll Pens were used for the words on the  sentiments. Colors used are:
Brown, Stardust- orange, blue, sky, green, purple, Metallic- green.

Note: When decorating your card, decide where you want your main image. Also decide the size of your sentiment. You can put a poem on the largest section then create a scene on the 3 steps. or put an image on the largest section and a small sentiment on the lowest step. Try to make your images proportioned to the size with your main image. Example: My scarecrow n Bird image is 3 1/2" the pumpkins are 1", and 1 1/2". The pumpkins will be on the steps.

I made 4 cards for you to see.

Note: I made the last card a little bigger. It is 6 1/2" x 4 1/2". The measurements to make it are as follows. Cut the cardstock at 9" x 4 1/2". Score the paper at 4 1/2" on the 3" side. Turn your paper and score at 1", 2", 3 1/2", 5", and 7". Now follow the directions above.
