The top of the box.
This photo shows another view of the top and the side of the box.
This photo shows the inside. I added a lace pocket to the inside bottom.
Hello, Today I am sharing an altered cigar box. I used 4 digital images by Create with TLC. You can find them here http://icraftgifts.com/digital-creations-with-tlc.
First step was preparing the box. I removed the metal hardware. Then gessoed the box inside and out with 2 layers. Once dry I sponged the box with Wedding Gold by Folkart, Light brown and Pineapple paints by Craft Smart. Blending the paints as I went along. I covered the entire box inside and out. Once dry I put the hardware back on.
I decided to add card stock by Prima to the box top, bottom, and insides. I mode podged the papers on.
The top of the box I used one image and printed it off 3 times. I then used mod podge on it 3 times letting it dry between each coat. Once dry I cut out the frame, leaves and flowers on one.. The other one I cut out the flowers and leaves. I then placed foam tape on the back of these pieces and layered them on the whole image. Then I mod podged the image to the box.
One the mod podge was dry I started decorating the box.
I added lace and pearls to the outside of the box. The laces and pearl trim came from Pamela Joy's Art Friends store. https://www.facebook.com/groups/505007846364184/
Then using mulberry flowers and leaves I decorated the top. The pink and lavender flower and leaves are by Wild Orchid Crafts. The maize colored flower and tiny white flowers are by Prima from the Fall collection.
The resin corners and dragonflies are from Faith Griffin. They were white and I painted them for the box.
Inside the box, top of lid.
I added 3 images from Create with TLC. Once the mod podge was dry I added a pearl lace from Hobby Lobby around the edges of the lid. Then added flowers from Wild Orchid Crafts with a tiny doily from Gone Artsy in the top left corner and bottom right corner.
Inside the box, in bottom.
I covered the paper with a lace so I could see the paper design through it. The lace came from a recycled top. Then I put together a piece of this lace overlaid with a 3 1/2" lace I got from Pamela Joy's Art Friends Store. Then hot glued it into place on the bottom and sides creating a pocket. Then I added the pearl trim around the edges. I added a maize colored rose from Prima and a lavender flower and leaf from Wild Orchid Crafts in the top right corner.
Note: I used hot glue to add the flowers laces and pearls except the lace covering the bottom inside. I used mod podge to adhere it.
The box is 8 1/2" x 8 1/8" x 2".
Where the top design is it adds another inch to the depth of the box.
Thanks for dropping by. Have a wonderful day! Edwina
