Tie Your Dreams to a kite card

We have a new group to take crafting to a our limit which we are proudly calling I Double Dog Dare You. I am Double Dog Daring you for our first challenge which we are calling Summer Breeze. Ok, granted, I know the heat hats soared to new heights this summer in some areas but let's have some sweet thoughts of our "Happy Place". Now again, just as a reminder, the only limit to our wonderful creative group will be their creativity!
See the curtains hangin' in the window in the evenin' on a Friday night
A little light a-shinin' through the window lets me know everything is alright
Summer breeze makes me feel fine
blowing through the jasmine in my mind
Summer breeze makes me feel fine
blowing through the jasmine in my mind
See the paper layin' on the sidewalk a little music from the house next door
So I walked on up to the doorstep through the screen and across the floor
Sweet days of summer the jasmine's in bloom
July is dressed up and playing her tune
And I come home from a hard day's work and you're waiting there not a care in the world
See the smile a-waitin' in the kitchen food cookin' and the plates for two
Feel the arms that reach out to hold me in the evening when the day is through
Summer Breeze Lyrics by Seals and Croft

Hello, The image on my card is by Create With TLC. You can find it here.

   Copics used are R29, R35-red streamer, R81, R83, R85, E13, E15, E00, E01, E31, E37-girl, E31, E33, E37, E00, E01, B000, B02, B05, B28-boy, E31, E33, E37, E00-man, E37, G03, YG41, YG67-trees, C1, C3, C5-stone wall, YG67, YG93, YG95, G03, G85-grass, BG000-sky.

Blue  Metallic and Rose Gelly Roll pens were used on the streamers on the kites.

The papers are by DCWV-brown print, Georgia Pacific-white.

  Cut you brown print so that you have 3 layers measuring at 5 1/2 x 4 3/4", 5"x 4 1/4", 4 1/2" x 3 3/4".

  The image sizes after cutting are 5 1/4" x 4 1/2", 4 3/4" x 4", 4 1/4" x 3 1/2".

I printed the image off 3 times . I then made sure they all were identical in shape and placement of the image. Then cute one image down by 1/2" all the way around on all 4 sides. Then on another image cut on all 4 sides 1" off. One the 2 cut down images I put a repositional adhesive on the backs in the center. Now line the designs up to form a complete image. Color with Copics. Now take apart. layer with the brown paper. Place largest image on top of the largest brown paper. Make sure your you have 1/*' all the way around or it won't look right. Continue with brown on top ,then image till you have all stacked. Make sure your image lines up with previous image. This is easier than it sounds.

   The finished card is 5 1/2" x 4 3/4".

With all this being said, sadly, I must send you on your way to our next super crafty friend Anita

Stay tuned for next month for I Triple Dog Dare YOU. If you want to particpate, let either Lynne Kirsch at or Kimberly Pate at where we are going to be challenging your creativity mojo where the only limit is yourself with a theme of "Back to School"

1. Lisa Peters ~
2. Kimberly Pate ~
3. Edwina Brown~ you are here
4 .L Miriam Meserve ~
5. Janet Smith ~
6. Anita Cannon
7. Rhonda -

My project today is a double gate fold card.

Front of the card closed with ribbon instead of a belly-band .

Card opened up.

I used BFF-(Best friends Forever) paper piecing pdf file for my card. I added glitter by Creatology to the shirts, and flocking on the shoes by Recollections. The flocking looks like suede shoes. I added beads around the neck of the punk shirt and Viva Decor Megenta pearl pen to the neck of the other shirt. I added a nose and cheeks with Copis-R20 and lips with E04. I added highlights to the blond hair with YR31.

To make a double gate fold card. Cut a 12 x 12 piece of cardstock in half. Score the one piece at 2, 4, 8, and 10 inches. The other half is not needed. fold the 4 and 8 inch scored lines to form a valley. fold the 2, and 10 inch lines to form a mountain. Make sure the folds are folded real crisp.
Now cute a coorenating paper at 1 3/4" x 5 3/4"-4 needed, and 3 3/4" x 5 3/4"-1 needed.

Now using a corner punch round the edges of the card on all 4 corners with the card folded up. Now round the right corners on 2 of the 1 3.4 X 5 3/4" pieces. Do the left corners of the other 2 pieces. Now do all 4 corners of the bigger piece. Glue all pieces to the matching places on the card leaving an 1/8" edge around the print. Now decorate the card.

Once the card is decorated and dry, you can tie the ribbon around the card. I tied a knot to hold it in place then added another piece of ribbon to form a double bow. Do not glue the ribbon down. It needs to be able to be removed to open the card.

Thanks for stopping and remember to stop by again on July 29, 20912 when our project will be The Birds for our next Design Team project

The next stop is Miriam. Be sure to see what she has created. we all have a best friend.

Here is my project for Friend Chicken day. It is 2 recipe cards for my niece's Recipe book I am making her. As I was born in Kentucky and grew up eating friend chicken, I felt this day was for me. I wanted to do a page with KFC on it. I have a photo of the Big Chicken in Marietta Georgia. What is the Big Chicken you ask? It is a KFC restaurant in Marietta that has become a landmark and scenic stop for tourist. I lived in Georgia 23 years. The building is shaped like a chicken and the beak opens and eyes rotate. It is a fun stop for kids and the young at heart.

The Southern Fried Chicken is my recipe. I have used it for years. Although I never measure the ingredients and it often ends up with other spices in it too.

The diecut chicken legs and are from Cricut Cartridge Everyday Paper Dolls. You can find them on the keyboard Accessories 2 key shift row 2 button 3 cut at 6.16" and 3.90". Let's Eat from Locker Talk row 2 button 3 Phrase/layer key and shift at 3".

The digi image of the boy eatting chicken/turkey leg is from 2 for Tuesday. You can find it here.

The Fried Chicken on the plate and sentiment are from Create with TLC. You can find it in Paulette's store here.

Copics used for the boy eating are are E13, E17-hair, E000, E00, E01, E02-skin, BG11-shirt, YR01, YR04, YR07-sweater, E04-lips. Stardust clear Gelly Roll Pen was used on the buttons.

    Copics used on the plate of Fried Chicken are E13, E15, E!7, E31, E59, E37, E33, E00-chicken, BG10, BG13, BG15, BG17-plate.

The papers are by Recollections-Aqua, Georgia Pacific-white, DCWV-orange print.

The recipe cards are 8 1/2" x 11". These are going into a special book for recipe pages.

One more thing I decided to show you the Big Chicken. I took this photo December 2010. we were stopped at a traffic light hence all the electric wires in my photo.

Thanks for stopping by and mark your calendar again next month to see what Holidays to Celebrate on August 11th for the next Calendar Girls Blog Hop!
